London Cocktail Week kicked off October 12th and will continue until 22nd – where some of the finest bars in London gather up for tastings, masterclasses, dinner and food-matching. Drink your way around the city and end up in our bar – Thirteen.

Meanwhile kicking off from the 18th is Southbank’s London Literature Festival – the longest running celebration of the written and spoken word of its kind. This being its 16th edition, expect names, both prestigious and rising, to be present. From Jada Pinkett Smith to Kerry Washington and Jacqueline Wilson to Yu Miri.

Arriving on the 19th Oktober Fest brings you everything, everywhere, all at once. Aged over a decade this three week happening across the city visits Finsbury Square from 26th-28th and promises live music, German cuisine and lots of beer – all under one tent.

Illuminated River is a long-term art installation that’s transformed the Thames at night with an orchestrated series of light works that spans central London’s nine bridges. Moving subtly as sequences of LED lights symbolically bringing each bridge together, channelling The Thames’ history but also celebrating the structures as architectural, social and historical landmarks. Creating a symbolic link across the political, financial and cultural centres of the capital. At 3.2 miles in length, Illu­min­ated River spans from Lon­don to Lam­beth bridges, mak­ing it the longest pub­lic art com­mis­sion in the world.

Noises Off arrives at Theatre Royal Haymarket, by playwright Micahel Frayn – who conceived the idea in 1970 while watching from the wings a performance of The Two of Us. Following the on/ off stage antics of a touring theatre company and their farcical forays into rehearsals, matinee’s and general backstage behaviour.

Marina Abramovic at the Royal Academy of Arts. As an artist pushing the limits of mind and body for half a century, no one has captivated audiences more through performance and art than Marina Abramovic. This exhibition celebrates her story of sacrifice through sculpture, video, installation and performance. With some of her finest works being re-staged by the next generation of performance artists – each trained in the Marina Abramovic method – these limited live performances promise to be startling and intimate.
